Kyrgyzstan GDP Annual Growth Rate

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Kyrgyzstan contracted 0.90 percent in 2012 from the previous year. GDP Annual Growth Rate in Kyrgyzstan is reported by the Asian Development Bank. Historically, from 1994 until 2012, Kyrgyzstan GDP Annual Growth Rate averaged 2.6 Percent reaching an all time high of 9.9 Percent in December of 1997 and a record low of -20.1 Percent in December of 1994. In recent years, Kyrgyzstan has become a regional trade canter due to the liberalization of customs. Agriculture in Kyrgyzstan is crucial to food security, but is mostly based around small scale family subsistence farming. In the past 10 years, the agricultural sector shrank substantially, presently accounting for 20 percent of total GDP. On the other hand, industry expanded to 28 percent of GDP, as it has been recovering since the end of the Soviet Union due to gold mining operations. The services sector also expanded heavily in the past years, replicating Asia’s economic trend, accounting nowadays to 52 percent of total GDP.
