Japanese shares drop sharply in early trading
SYDNEY (MarketWatch) — Japanese shares dropped in early trading on Friday, with the Nikkei Stock Average down 1% at 10,335.13. Notable decliners included automaker Honda Motor Co. , down 1.8%, and electronics company Sony Corp. down 1.6%. U.S. retail sales are due later in the trading day on Friday as well as some key data from China. Investors were also likely nervous ahead of reported protests in Saudi Arabia.
