Iowa Senator Harkin won’t seek re-election: AP
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Democratic Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa said he will not seek re-election next year, the Associated Press reported Saturday. “It’s just time to step aside,” the 73-year-old told the news agency in an interview. A successful re-election in 2014 would mark Harkin’s sixth term in office. His announcement comes as a surprise, the AP said, because Harkin had .7 million in his campaign war chest and had planned to hold a fundraiser next month.
