Hong Kong Shares Hit 19-Month High

Asian markets started 2013 with a bang, as Hong Kong jumped to a 19-month high and South Korea ended at a nine-month high, after lawmakers in Washington broke the stalemate to pass a bill to address the fiscal cliff. The Hang Seng rose 2.9%.
