Google, IBM, AMD lead techs higher
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) – Technology stocks edged higher early Wednesday, propelled by solid gains in shares of Google Inc., IBM Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices. Google jumped more than 5% to 1.46 after posting strong results highlighted by surging advertising revenue. IBM traded up more than 4% to 4.77 a day after reporting higher profit on robust software sales. AMD jumped 6% to .60 after reporting better-than-expected financials for the fourth quarter. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 9 points, or 0.3%, to stand at 3,152. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index also moved up a fraction.
