Amazon, Research In Motion lead techs higher
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) – Technology stocks were modestly higher early Wednesday, as shares of Amazon.com gained more than 7% to 0.04 after the online retailer posted a stronger-than-expected operating income. The sector also got a lift from shares of Research In Motion which traded up 4% to .28 as the handset maker geared up for the rollout of BlackBerry10. Chip stocks also posted gains, with Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices each edging up fractionally. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 6 points, or 0.2%, to stand at 3,159. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index was up 0.5%.
